This antique French empire-style commode has a number of decorative details, including the lightly distressed black painted and waxed finish. The chest has two smaller upper drawers and two large lower drawers. Between the two upper drawers is a space with fluted details, which are mimicked at the sides. The hardware are beautiful brass ring pulls with floral details. The turned legs and simple paneled drawers and sides add some character as well. The interior of the drawers has been painted in a matte pale dove gray, which is a very nice and clean finish foe this piece. The finish on the wood has some light distressed at the edges and corners and the wormholes and other texture in the wood do peek through, thanks to the satin finish of the wax (it is not glossy, nor flat, but slightly shinier than an eggshell finish).

The chest measures 47.25"W x 20.5"D x 33.5"H. Surface wear is present, though some may be due to the intentional finish. Hardware has some patination and wear, but operates nicely. Drawers are easy to open and close and feature dovetail construction.
