Luscious chenille "carpet bag" frame purse from the late 1950s or early 1960s. Baroque textured fabric in pinks, reds, and greens on taupe. Well made, with quality detailing. Handle has patent underside. Side gussets feature slim patent piping. Enameled frame channel. Beautiful golden satin lining. Interior slip pocket with gold edging and zip pocket with metal Serval zipper. Made in the U.S.A. From the Martha A. estate.

background: Brothers Isaac and David Ingber founded Ingber & Company in 1903. One of their carpet bags was featured in the movie “Around the World in Eighty Days” starring David Niven. Their designs were also featured in "Marjorie Morningstar" starring Natalie Wood. the company, based in Philadelphia and with a showroom in New York City, closed in 1966.
